The Decision Theory Group (DTG) is investigating the use ofprobability and utility theory to enhance computer applications andplatforms. Explicit consideration of user preferences and keyuncertainties associated with particular tasks and contexts is acentral element of DTG projects. The group has a special focus onextending the flexibility and responsiveness of operating systems anduser interfaces. Areas of attention include information retrieval,automated diagnosis and decision support, and automated learning forcustom-tailoring software to user work patterns and preferences.
